Artful Days

Hi Everyone,

Every Friday I look after me 3 year old grandson, Isaac. I love spending time with him and we have lots of snuggles and fun times together.
Yesterday we had an arty day and Isaac created some shaving foam backgrounds. Well actually he didn't realise he was making background he was just happy getting messy.

Here is Isaac with his first creation

For the cards I used stamps and die cuts from my stash to create some lovely little cards. Less is more in this case because for me it is all about Isaac's beautiful backgrounds.

A little more Steampunk

Hi everyone

Keeping with the Steampunk theme this week I thought I would share a couple more makes from my designs for Emerald City Crafts UK. As you know this is a new business and Linda will be bringing out beautiful papers and ephemera every few months so keep checking in because if steampunk isn't your thing I can guarantee there will be something there that will excite your crafty juices

These papers can make male or female cards so this time I went for a unisex design. the only other material I used other than the fab papers was a bit of card stock and string

This is a little gift bag and is perfect for sweets to give that special man in your life.

Although I have made lots of cards, tags, gift bags and canvases I have loads of the papers left so you can see just how much you get for your money.

Go on treat yourself I can guarantee you won't be dissapointed.

That's me for today folks' more wedding goodies to make

Take care

Steampunk Monolith

Hi Everyone,

Something a little bit different for you today. I love the monoliths from Visible Image and am sure I shared a couple of Christmas ones I made in December.

Last night I came across some MDF cogs that I had bought at a craft fair yonks ago and really wanted to make something with them. So a lot of cogitating later a light bulb moment materialised, the result being a steampunk monolith.

Along with the MDF monolith, heart and Cogs I used:

  • Tim Holtz and Docrafts spritzing inks in gold, silver, turquoise and black
  • Red Promarker to colour the heart and covered in Tim Holtz distress crackle paint
  • Artful Days angel wings and brass embellishment
  • Graphic 45 sentiment tags from the Typography range
I love how it has worked out and really hope you do too.

I am going to pop this in the following Challenge Blogs

Busy Busy Busy

HI Everyone,

Boy it's been busy here at Dixie Do Designs recently. I am helping my cousin with her wedding arrangements and have just started the mammoth task of the invitations. Obviously I will share it all with you as soon as I can but the wedding isn't until July so don't hold your breath 😉

I have still had time to put other crafting in designing for Emerald City Crafts UK. The first two sets of papers were only launched last week and are proving to be really popular. Why not join the Facebook Group for lots of inspiration.

Tonight I am going to share some more designs with you using the fabulous Les Beaux Oiseaux papers and ephemera so hope you like them.

This is a 2017 calendar using backing papers and image from Emerald City Crafts UK
I also added a die cut bird cage using an X-cut die and some flowers from my stash to compliment the colour of the background paper

This time I have created a beautiful gift tag with lots of ink and layers. I was able to use the scraps of the Les Beaux Oiseaux papers left over from larger projects so nothing goes to waste.

and finally a card to compliment the gift tag featuring die cut flowers, feather and little butterflies again from the scrap papers

Apart from 6x6 papers Linda also does A4 patterned papers so you get much more scope to use every last scrap

I would like to enter the card in to the following challenges

Creative Moments - Anything goes

Well that's me until the weekend, enjoy the rest of your week

Take Care

Love

A Gift Bag should be as Beautiful as the Gift

Hi Everyone,

Tonight I am going to share a gift bag I have designed using the beautiful Les Beaux Oiseaux papers from Emerald City Crafts UK, I have found these papers so versatile and can't wait for Linda to bring her next set out.

As well as Les Beaux Oiseaux  papers I used:
  •  a plain brown paper bag
  • some contrasting backing papers from my stash
  • String
  • Butterfly embellishments and
  • the mixed rosettes from X-cut dies
  • For the tag I used the the image on the contents page of the pack of papers so you can see nothing is wasted
I built up all the layers and distressed the edges with a little Tim Holtz distress ink and there you have it a gorgeous bag to hold your gorgeous gift.

For more designs with the Emerald City Crafts UK papers and ephemera why not visit Linda's Blog or the face book page.

News Flash

Hi Everyone,

Exciting news to share with you today Linda Simpson is opening a wonderful new craft business called Emerald City Crafts UK on etsy. She has launched her first two paper packs and digi images and she has asked me to be a design team member which I am absolutely delighted about.

The first two themes are Steampunked and Les Beaux Oiseaux

Linda's Esty store link is here so take a peak and treat yourselves you won't be dissapointed.

Here are just a few designs I have created but watch this space for much more

This is a card using one of the beautiful backing papers and stunning toppers

For this I used an MDF butterfly and matted another fabulous backing paper from the A4 pack. It was finished off with the word love and some paper flowers from my stash

This canvas is using the Steampunked range papers and topper. I die cut some cogs and added some bits and bobs in the background but I am sure you will agree the fabulous topper makes it. The papers tear and ink up perfectly

Just look at this amazing Victoriana topper matted on purple dotted and sepia ephemera papers. Finished off with some matching ribbon and flowers from my stash this is the perfect ladies card proving that steampunk is for all.

I am so happy to be on the design team. Apart from working with Linda getting to design with these superbly high quality papers is such a joy. Linda also has smaller packs of digi's for you to print so whatever your budget you can afford to buy as little or as much as you want. Give them a go you really won't be dissapointed.

I would love to get your feedback if you have a minute to comment

Take care
