February Blog Challenge at Emerald City Crafts

Hi Everyone,

Can you believe it is February already? At least the lighter nights are drawing in so more daylight to craft.

This months challenge over at Emerald City Crafts is as always Anything Goes. We have such fabulous entries that are really hard to judge, there is also some fabulous inspiration from amazing crafters.

My card for this month is an Art Deco inspired card using a recycled calendar given to me by a lovely friend.

The backing papers are from Linda Simpson Designs and there are some die cut embellishments I have in my stash. I have matted the image and papers on to a light gunmetal card with a bit of a shimmer and used an 8x8 scalloped card blank

I hope to see some of your designs in the challenge

Take care and happy crafting

Vintage Hearts and Weddnings

Hi Everyone,

Today I am sharing a vintage wedding card with you.

I have used vintage lace and some burlap with a doily edged in Tim Holtz distress ink. I messed up  the the edges of the backing paper and layered it all together before finishing off with some hearts,  rosettes and the sentiments. Everything is from my extensive stash so apart from the Tim Holtz ink I haven't a clue were anything else is from.

I am sure you are the same but I pick up papers and embellishments from all sorts of places. The Works is a great place to pick up some real bargains and freebies from craft magazines.

I hope I give a little inspiration in my occasional blogs, your comments are always welcome.

Take care and keep crafting

Love

Altered Art Workshop

Hi Everyone,

I had a wonderful day yesterday at an Altered Art Workshop run by Crafted by Norma, a local artist I found in a fabulous vintage warehouse. I also met some lovely like minded ladies.

This is my creation from the workshop.

Of course  I have bought another to have another go at home

On the pallet there are empty paint tubes, paints brushes and micro beads all covered in black gesso and a coat of black acrylic paint. It is finished off with touches of dry brushed plum and peach coloured paint and stenciled with cosmic shimmer paste.

I can't wait to do the next workshop

Happy crafting

New Year New Blog Challenge at Emerald City Crafts

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year and here I am again apologising for not being around much again, I find December really stressful there is so much to do I barely get time for crafting,

So here we are 2018 and it is time for the first challenge blog of the new year over at Emerald City Crafts.

Linda sent all the design team one of her Christmas stencils and I chose Baubles. When I got it I tried to look outside the box and do something non-christmassy with it. Here is what I did

I created a fishy journal page, the bodies if the fish are from the diamond bauble and the seaweed is from the Christmas tree bauble.

It was lots of fun to do although a little basic for me but I think I am happy with the result.

Why don't you pop over to the challenge and have a go, you never know you could be the first winner of 2018.

Have a fab 2018 everyone

Take care

Gill xx
